2012 In civics class this trimester we focused on the presidential election. I learned a lot about politics and the electoral process. I learned about the use of humor to influence and educate people about candidates. I also learned about the political ads I saw. Lastly I learned about which candidate I wanted to win and why. When using humor to influence and educating people about candidates, it seemed as though the comedians did more influencing than educating . Almost all of the humor was about Mitt Romney. Except for the one exception of when Barack Obama did poorly in the first presidential debate. The whole entire time Mitt Romney was mocked for being wealthy and apparently is very easy to mock. Mitt Romney was also mocked for what he said more than Barack Obama. In the political ads I saw I learned about the candidate’s values and what they stood for. Mostly I noticed that the messages they were sending weren’t to show what they stood for. The purpose of the commercials were to show what the other person didn’t stand for. Like the way Mitt Romney wanted college students to borrow money from their parents, according to Obama his plan would have cut college aid. So Obama and Romney were just bashing each other, the whole entire year. I learned that if I were old enough to vote, I probably would have voted for Barack Obama. Not necessarily because I like him, but I couldn’t stand to see Mitt Romney as President of the United states, because it seems as though his Vice President was lying the whole entire time. And Mitt Romney was very rude in certain aspects, and always changing his mind. At least when Obama said certain things he didn’t go back on what he said. This is what I learned in Civics class about the presidential election. I learned about politics and The electoral process. I learned about the use of humor the influence and educate people about Candidates. I also learned about the political ads I always saw coming on television. Lastly I learned about which candidate I wanted to win and why. |
